Please Help.....

In the picture above:

Seeing their future HOME...Fr. Andre took 8 of the orphans to the construction site...they ask him "Daddy, when can we live here?" So much more room to run and play and be a kid...if you would like to donate to this project, just message us. Any size donation is very much appreciated...just $5 pays a day's wages for one of the workers.

Big Day!

BiG work day...103 workers hired plus cooks to provide 2 meals. The job was to cement the roof of the girls' residential unit. I wish you could all see in person how amazing this is...

Get Rid of Old Glasses

If you are like our household we get new, updated glasses, and the old one lay around.  Just looking around, I found 3 pairs and if I dig deeper, I will bet I find at least two more.

The people of Haiti are in desperate need of glasses.  With 80 percent of the country living in poverty they can't find the $50.00 it costs to get a pair of glasses for themselves.

Here is a great way to get rid of your used spectacles and help this country in need.  One of the poorest in the world.

Here is the link so that you may send yours.

Kids pictures

Just in the past few weeks Our Lady of Perpetual Help had visitors from the United States.  They brought back this Christmas Card of all the residents of the orphanage.  I just think this is the sweetest picture.

Please contact Amy Obringer if you would like to hear more about the orphanage being built for these kids.  She will set up a time that someone can talk with your group.  If you would like to donate please see the tab at the top.

We want them to live with the necessities of life...to be safe, have an education, healthy food, clothing to become good citizens to help their country.  There are so many kids in Haiti living in poverty that need our help.

Please consider contacting Amy.

Facts About Haiti

1.  80% of Haitians live in poverty.
2.  Languages spoke are French and Creole.
3.  Religion is 80% Catholic, 20% Protestant and also Voodoo
4.  The literacy rate is 53%.  Very few children get past primary school.
5.  Most children have some level of malnutrition.

Restavek, a term I had not heard of until I became interested in Formula for Life.
How sheltered I have been.
This is a creole word meaning "stay with".
Children from poor families go and stay with wealthier families to go to school to live there and do small jobs.
In reality they turn into slaves, get very little food, sleep on a rug on the floor and usually don't get the necessities of life like shoes.
In Haiti there are 200,000 or more of these children from ages 4 to 15 years.
Our Lady of Perpetual Hope Orphanage are taking care of children who were Restaveks.
Here is a good article explaining more.

Piles of trash are like this all over the country in every city and in the countryside.  Haiti is working on alleviating this problem, but it doesn't happen overnight.
Here is an article explaining about what it being done.

Sanitation is horrible in Haiti.  After the earthquake, cholera became an epidemic.

Here is a good article explaining about this problem.

Please help us build the Our Lady of Perpetual Hope Orphanage so that  children may be in a safe, clean, sanitary environment.

Lets help those who can't help themselves.
